Quirino became an independent province on September 10, 1971, and in just 50 years, it has emerged as a rapidly growing agro- industrial and eco-tourism hub. And given its many assets – its bountiful natural resources, its rich culture and its hardworking and dedicated people – it has the potential to become an even stronger and more formidable economic force.

Quirino’s strength and resiliency was vividly demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic when the provincial government, working in tandem with local leaders and people organizations, quickly took action, enabling the province and Quirinians to weather the challenge.

These are the same strength and resilience that are driving the province’s rise as an economic powerhouse as well as a world-class tourism destination – the very same strength and resilience that are clearly portrayed and celebrated in this book.

QUIRINO: PORTRAIT OF A PROVINCE Coffee Table Book is a milestone project that marks the province’s 50th anniversary that tells, through stories and pictures, its history, its culture, its people and its vision for tomorrow. It is a legacy project for the province’s next generation to make them proud of their past and to make them prouder still of the future that awaits them. Finally, this book is an inspired and inspiring invitation for non-Quirinians to visit our province and discover for themselves the many wonders that fill Quirino’s basket of happiness! – Hon.
