Paulo Simbulan is a B.S. Architecture graduate from the University of the Assumption and holds office in Greenhills, San Juan. He started cartooning in a student publication in 1990. In 1994, he won a drawing contest sponsored by the Department of Agriculture.

He believes that cartooning is an inborn talent which just lies quietly inside a person, until one day when it is touched by magic wand, some catalyst that makes him experience life’s daily woes. The seed then germinates and grows, nourished by continuing experience. His constant passions are reading, painting and raising chickens, all of these being partly reflected in Lolo Sport.

From the tradition of Mang Ambo comes Lolo Sport. Set in the modern era, Lolo Sport depicts a clearly Filipino character and points out the traits and quirks of Filipino life. Lolo is a fine, sensible old man, politically correct, environmentally aware and with a constant passion in sports. In short, he fits the well-respected cartoon character of the millennium. With his big and cool sidekick Max, they will face daily living and
activities full of spice and color.
