Yuchengco Museum and Writer’s Block Philippines (WBP) come together in partnership to address a special need to share information on writing about the arts, culture, and heritage and to train writers on presenting these topics to a larger audience. The partnership program, “Writing about Arts and Culture,” will consist of workshops that bring together writing skills development, cultural information, and art appreciation.

The first workshop under this program is “An Introduction to Writing about Arts and Culture” on October 8, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Yuchengco Museum. The one-day workshop equips participants with an overview of the different fields and opportunities in arts and culture where writers can participate—be it visual arts, architecture, theater, music, or design. Participants will also apply what they have learned by writing a short piece that will be critiqued by the facilitators and fellow participants. The first workshop run will be facilitated by Yuchengco Museum curator Jeannie Javelosa and administrator Dannie Alvarez, alongside Writer’s Block founders Ana Santos, Nikka Sarthou, and Niña Terol-Zialcita.

With the growing art scene in Manila and the increasing number of Filipino artists receiving international attention, it is only appropriate to shine the spotlight on Philippine arts, culture, and heritage.
