Far Eastern University relaunched Nick Joaquin’s 1976, first edition of “The Complete Poems and Plays of Jose Rizal translated into English side by side with the original Spanish text. The book makes a powerful combination of two of the country’s most important figures in history who have made significant contributions in the literary field.
Historian Ambeth R. Ocampo said “Rizal wrote for an audience that doesnt read”. Rizal was a young writer who wrote for the youth of his time. He wrote about love, loyalty and self- discovery, the same themes we read in our poems today.
