Museum Policies

Consideration for Others

Although discussion in the galleries is encouraged, please keep voices respectfully low. The museum is a place for looking, thinking, and quiet discussion. Running and rough play are prohibited. Please follow the instructions of the Security Officers in the galleries.

Respect for Artwork

Do not touch any of the objects in the museum. The dirt and invisible oil on our fingertips leaves a film on any surface touched. Over time, these marks attract dust and pollutants from the air, damaging even the strongest metal or stone. Please refrain from pointing or gesturing when you are close to unprotected works of art.

Personal Items

Food (including candy and gum) and drinks are prohibited in the galleries. Umbrellas, shopping bags, and backpacks must be checked at the baggage counter at the lobby. Please bring your valuables. All belongings must be collected on the same day.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones must be switched to silent mode. They should not be used to make or receive calls while inside the galleries.

Photography & Sketching

Photography for personal use is allowed inside the museum. Flash photography and photographing individual artworks, however, is not permitted. For press and commercial photography, please contact the Information Officer during business hours by phone: (632) 889-1234 or email: [email protected]. Drawing or sketching when preapproved by the museum is permitted.

Smoking

The museum is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is not allowed within the building.
