On the occasion of the bicentennial of Giuseppe Verdi’s birthday, the Italian Embassy presents Viva Verdi 1813 – 2013, a traveling exhibition on the different aspects of the Italian genius’ life.

The exhibition showcases the artists who designed the most important original score covers of Giuseppe Verdi’s operas from 1839 to 1893.Other highlights of the exhibit include essays on the more intimate aspects of Verdi’s life. Through the essays, visitors will discovered a man endowed with a gift for practicality, a landowner, an architect and engineer, as well as a generous host and lover of conversation and good food. Documentaries on the life, works, and legacy of Verdi are also being screened in the galleries upon request.

The Viva Verdi exhibit and related events are organized by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Philippine-Italian Association, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Regione Emilia-Romagna, the Officina di Videostoria Fscire di Bologna, the RAI-Radio-televisione Italiana and are sponsored by Rustan’s, Crewtech Shipmanagemente Phils Inc., Maritime Academy Phils Inc. and Elburg Shipmanagement Philippines Inc., and Trevi Foundations.

Verdi 200 is under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.
