Sora Lamp by Bien Alvarez and EJ Angeles
For the Sora Lamp, we took a deep look at the characteristics of of the Jellyfish. Known as “Dikya” in Tagalog, these creatures are often found in coastal areas where interactions with divers, surfers, and tourists are common but often fleeting.
We were inspired by the creature’s weightlessness in contrast to its ability to receive so much from the water merely by surrendering to it. So we wanted to capture the same gentleness and softness by taking a jellyfish’s form and translating it into a luminescent homeware piece that can either stand out in a home or blend in.
