DILAAB is a Filipino word that means “blaze” or “passionate flame.” It speaks of light, warmth, and emotion — the kind of atmosphere we try to create in every DILAAB event.
This October, DILAAB becomes part of Design Week Philippines 2025, organized by the DTI–Design Center of the Philippines. With the theme Towards Ginhawa, the festival highlights design as a pathway to well-being, balance, and connection. In the same spirit, DILAAB offers music as a shared space for listening, remembering, and belonging — a way to experience harmony together under the glow of candlelight.
In this special edition, we’re celebrating the timeless music of the APO Hiking Society, whose songs have become part of the soundtrack of Filipino life. Jim Paredes, Boboy Garrovillo, and Danny Javier gave us music that could make us laugh at life’s little quirks one moment, then hold us in quiet reflection the next. They sang about rain falling on ordinary days (Pumapatak ang Ulan), the innocence and impatience of youth (Batang-Bata Ka Pa), and the joy of togetherness (Kaibigan, Awit ng Barkada). Just as easily, they gave us love songs that remain among the most enduring in OPM — Panalangin, Show Me a Smile, and When I Met You.
For one weekend, we’re bringing these classics to life in a whole new way — through the artistry of the PIMA Guitar Quartet. Known for their expressive arrangements and dynamic performances, PIMA offers a fresh, intimate take on APO’s music, reminding us why these songs continue to resonate across generations.
More than a performance, this is a space for connection, reflection, and ginhawa. Whether you grew up singing APO with your barkada or are just discovering them now, we’d love to share this evening with you.
