Manila, Philippines: The Yuchengco Museum recently opened a new exhibition as a tribute to its founder, the late Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco (AY). Entitled Bridging Cultures: Select Artworks from the AY Collection, the exhibition showcases fine selections of Philippine art, Chinese watercolor paintings and calligraphy, and memorabilia and gifts from his personal and corporate art collections. Bridging Cultures will be on view at Yuchengco Museum for three months until the end of November 2017.

Through the artworks and memorabilia on display, Bridging Cultures highlights AY’s most important roles as an art collector, as a Rizalian values advocate, as a diplomat, and as a business leader. AY’s way of showing support for developing and appreciating Philippine arts and culture was through building his personal and Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC) corporate art collections. Through the years, the collections have substantially grown with gifts the YGC has received from international partners and affiliates. Many of the pieces are proudly displayed at the Yuchengco Museum.

On exhibition are works by Filipino masters such as Juan Luna, National Artists for Visual Arts such as Fernando Amorsolo, Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Vicente Manansala, and Ang Kiukok. Also on view are paintings and prints by esteemed artists Norma Belleza, Angelito Antonio, Manuel Rodriguez, Sr., and Anita Magsaysay-Ho. Recognizing his Chinese roots, AY has also collected traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy by artists like Zhang Daquian, Ong Bun Han, Wuwu Fan, Li Yi, and Li Yuan.

Bridging Cultures: Select Artworks from the AY Collection will be on view until the end of October. Yuchengco Museum is at RCBC Plaza, corner Ayala and Gil J. Puyat Avenues, Makati City. Museum hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (632) 889-1234, visit www.yuchengcomuseum.org, or follow @YuchengcoMuseum on social media.
